Kristin Papa, San Jose therapist

Welcome! I 'm Kristin.

You've always made everyone else a priority.
My priority is supporting you.

I specialize in working with adults who are tired of putting themselves last and want to stop feeling guilty about prioritizing their own well-being. and are looking to align their lives with their values.

I help clients start to tune into their own needs and feelings so they can learn to trust themselves and live a life that honors their authentic self.

If you're looking for a therapist in San Jose, California, or Puerto Rico, you're in the right place.

My clients are looking to:

Bring their whole self to the table

During our sessions you'll have a safe space to process your ups and downs (and everything in between) so you can start to show up as your whole self, even the parts of you that it's hard to let others see.

Feel empowered to make sustainable changes

Together we’ll examine long-standing patterns in your thoughts, behaviors and relationships and we’ll develop a committed action plan so you can start to feel more empowered and confident.

Finally invest in themselves and their own well-being.

You've spent so much time trying to deal with things on your own, but you're ready to receive support so you don't have to carry the weight alone.

Live a life aligned with their values.

In our work together we'll make space for what what matters most to you and shift your attention and energy to creating a life grounded in your values.

Therapy with me is

✓  Down to earth and relatable

✓  Compassionately direct to help you challenge yourself and grow

✓  A collaborative process to develop tools and help you show up as your best self

✓  Grounded in compassion, openness, and honesty so you can connect with your authentic self to align your life with your values

Therapy with me is not

✕  Stuffy and uptight

✕  A nod-and-smile session where you don’t get real feedback

✕  Just a weekly vent session without having to put in the work

✕  Lacking empathy and connection so you never feel 100% comfortable

Get support for

Helping you find the calm in your life.

Restore your sense of self to manage life's big changes.

Providing you support and hope when it's hard to keep going.

Start to feel more grounded and focused.

You are not a burden. This is your safe space to talk about what you're going through.

This space is for you.

My practice is inclusive and is built on mutual respect, acceptance of others without biases based on differences of any kind.

I KNOW THE COURAGE IT TAKES TO DO THE WORK AND TAKE RISKS, SO I'LL BE SUPPORTING YOU IN THIS JOURNEY AS YOUR START TO USE YOUR VOICE AND MAKE YOURSELF A PRIORITY.

What to expect from therapy

01

CLARIFY

Our first session we'll start to get to know each other.  I'll ask questions about your past, get some background information from you, and we'll clarify what you want to work on in therapy.  (It's normal to feel a little nervous the first time we meet.)  We'll also talk about scheduling our future sessions so you know when we'll be meeting.

02

ALIGN

This is where we'll start to dig a little deeper.
Our work will be a collaborative process to align your life with your core values.  We'll look at patterns you've noticed in your past as well in your behaviors or relationships.   I'll be walking beside you, but you will letting me know how I can best support you.  In our session, I'll be compassionately direct with a hint of humor. I think therapy should incorporate all aspects of the human experience, so there may be laughter, tears, relief, and realization of what you need.

03

MAINTENANCE

Next we'll reflect on our work together and the hard work you've put in.
I want to make sure that our work is helpful to you.  We'll talk about if we accomplished what you were hoping to work through in therapy.  We'll talk about next steps for you in your journey.
